Do I receive an AP credit if I passed the AP Spanish exam but was not enrolled in an AP Spanish course?

Last year, my junior year, I took Spanish 4. I took the AP Test and passed with a 3 (I would of course like to improve that score.) I would most definitely take AP Spanish this year but I was forced to drop a class since the incompetent guidance counselors messed up my schedule this year and didn’t include classes that were required my senior year (government).

We just switched to block scheduling this year and it’s very limiting since certain classes are only offered during certain times.

I’m really torn on whether I should march to the guidance office and try to revise my schedule and include AP Spanish.

Also, if I were unable to take AP Spanish, would I still receive a college credit for having passed the exam (I know some colleges don’t accept 3’s) although I was not enrolled in AP Spanish, just Spanish 4?

Please help me make a decision. All answers will be appreciated!

Ap classes were created for the AP Exam not the other way around. A guidance counselor tried to convince me I had to be in the class to take the test to which I calmly explained to her I didn’t have high enough boots to walk through all the bullcrap she just spewed. If you’re going to take the AP Spanish exam find a Spanish speaking friend who is willing to help you study.
Don’t worry too much about your counselor. My friend had one who didn’t give her the correct math class all four years of high school deliberately omitted her when it came time to reapply for school-choice causing a big mix-up the beginning of her Senior Year.

College spanish courses?

In high school my plan is to take 4 years of latin. this is because a)in case i go in the medical field b)know the foundation of english words and c)i heard spanish, french and other romanic languages are extremly easy to learn after knowing latin.

do colleges (say IU, ball state, kentucky, etc.) offer beginner language courses like in high school? so if i take 4 year of latin in high school that in college i can take a class equivelent to spanish 1 in high school.?

Of course. They can’t teach something without having beginner language courses. That just wouldn’t make sense. Some people want to learn a different language then they did in high school.

Thinking of going on a Spanish course in Chile, thoughts?

I’m thinking of travelling to Chile for a 2-week language course to learn Spanish, in summer 2009. The course includes a 2-day excursion to a ski resort high in the mountains above Santiago.

Just wondering if anybody has done anything like this, or would recommend it and why?
Spanish is a language I would like to learn to a conversational level, and I have always wanted to visit South America, and understand that Chile is one of the more safe and stable countries.

Thanks.

Definitely do it!!!! The best way to learn another language is to immerse yourself in a place where they speak it. Also you’ll get to know the culture better and gain an awesome experience. Do it!!

does anyone know where i can find free language courses(french, spanish and italian) in the NYC area?

I want to learn french and italian, and my boyfriend wants to earn spanish, but we can’t afford to pay tutors, and there are always offering free classes, we just don’t know where to find them. does anyone know of a person, or school that offers free courses?

I am from Italy (I have been living abroad for a few years), I am a teacher of Italian and offer online tutoring through skype. Let me know if I can help you in any way. My name is Roberto, you can reach me at shlomy_it@yahoo.com

Home-Schooling HS Spanish Courses?

Hello,

For anyone who has taken A Beka’s HS Spanish 1 or 2 AND those who have taken Bob Jones University’s Spanish courses, please read on.
We are trying to find a good Spanish three course that will work with and follow up on A Beka’s two year course that we have taken. Does anyone know of a HS Spanish THREE course that works well with the A Beka series? If so, please tell me the name of the publisher and licensee.
Does the B.J.U. Spanish three follow well after A Beka’s?
If you have taken the B.J.U. course, could you tell me if you enjoyed it. Did it seem superficial or was it a thorough, challenging course suitable for high-schoolers?
Any comments, suggestions or caveats regarding Spanish Three Courses is welcome.

I’m not familiar with those courses, but I took Spanish 3 through BYU Independent Study. It was good for teaching grammar, but there’s no way attached to listen to Spanish being spoken-you’d have to seek that out yourself.

What is a good Spanish course for someone who knows French?

I know French and so I can understand *loads* of vocabulary passively, and I know basic Spanish phrases as well. So I am looking for a course which I won’t get bored with because it’s too easy or moves too slowly.

You’ll pick up Spanish quickly if you have a good knowledge of another romance langauge… I can recommend perhaps Michel Thomas’ vocab CDs, or teh Rosetta Stone program. Or Suenos - it’s a Spanish program put out by the BBC in the UK (it’s available on Amazon to buy with CDs).

Good luck!

How can i find Lingo on the internet? It is suppose to be about a spanish course, not a phone service.?

I am wanting to take a spanish course and this is the name of the web site who was advertising the course. When i got on tonight, i get something about phone services.

Lingo is a game show on GSN!! You should try it!

Any tips or courses where I can learn basic Spanish really quick?

I am going on vacation to South America next year. I do not have much time for taking classes, so I would prefer a course I could do at home.

I am studying Spanish with the course mentioned at the following website: http://www.learnspanish.tk
I can really recommend them. The course is easy and fun.
